June 2025 Current Events Survey

Galvanize Action surveyed ideologically-moderate white women across the US to see how they were feeling about current events. 

QUESTION #1

To your understanding, which of the following options most accurately explain what is currently happening in California?

The federal government sent the National Guard to California to stop violent protests and enforce immigration laws.39%
The federal government sent the National Guard to California without the state’s permission to disrupt peaceful protests and immigrant communities.38%
I have not heard of this situation until now.23%
  • 23% of women surveyed were unaware of the National Guard activation in California.
  • Women who were aware were nearly evenly split in their assessment of the situation.

QUESTION #2
This month, the federal government sent about 4,000 California National Guard members and 700 Marines to Los Angeles after ICE carried out immigration raids that sparked large protests. Troops were deployed without the permission of California’s state government. (Sources: The Associated Press, Fox News, Reuters)

  • Most women who responded (45%) have not talked to their loved ones about ICE actions in California. 
  • Among those who have spoken to their loved ones, most (37%) say they see the issue the same way while 18% see or saw things differently.
