November Current Events Survey

In November 2025, Galvanize Action surveyed ideologically-moderate women to see how they were feeling about current events.

QUESTION #1
Throughout the past few months, the federal government has deployed the National Guard to cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Portland, and Nashville, citing violent protests and disruptions at federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities. Because troops were deployed without permission from the states’ governments, state and local leaders have argued that the president is exceeding his authority. (Sources: The Associated Press, Fox News, Reuters)

Based on the description above, which of the following statements best reflects your view of the situation, even if neither is exactly right?

Chart showing 55% think sending the national guard to cities is a threat to democratic norms, and 45% think it was ncecessary
Sending the National Guard to these cities was necessary, because state leaders have not done enough to keep people safe.45%
Sending the National Guard to these cities is a threat to democratic norms, because it uses military force against protestors unlawfully.55%

A slight majority of women surveyed indicate that they believe President Trump sending the National Guard to various cities could be a threat to democratic norms. However, nearly half also indicate that sending the National Guard was necessary in these situations, because the citizens were unsafe. These results mirror the findings from the first time Galvanize Action asked this question in June, when President Trump sent the National Guard to California.

QUESTION #2
Do you approve or disapprove of the way President Trump is handling the economy?

Chart showing most women disapprove of the way Trump is handling the economy
Strongly approve13%
Somewhat approve24%
Somewhat disapprove18%
Strongly disapprove45%

The majority of women surveyed (63%) say they somewhat or strongly disapprove of the way President Trump is handling the economy, with nearly half of the sample (45%) saying they strongly disapprove. These findings show that opinions of how President Trump is handling the economy among women in our audience tend to be negative. Additionally, these results are consistent with findings from the same question asked in May.

QUESTION #3
To what extent are you concerned, if at all, about potential cuts to Medicare and Medicaid?

Chart showing nearly all women are concerned about cuts to medicare and medicaid to some extent. A plurality are "extremely" concerned
Not at all concerned7%
Slightly concerned27%
Very concerned25%
Extremely concerned41%

A plurality (41%) of surveyed ideologically-moderate women report being extremely concerned about potential cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, with a further 25% saying they are very concerned. Just over a third (34%) say they are either not at all concerned or only slightly concerned. When Galvanize Action asked this question in April, a slight majority (52%) of the sample said they were extremely concerned, and 28% said they are either not at all or only slightly concerned. While the surveys were conducted on two different samples of moderate white women, it is possible that these findings indicate a shift in the extent to which ideologically-moderate white women are concerned about this issue.

QUESTION #4
On October 1st, the federal government entered a shutdown when lawmakers failed to pass new funding bills. Who do you think is mainly responsible for the federal government shutting down?

Chart showing that women place blame for the government shutdown on both democrats and republicans (29%), then trump and republicans (24%), then democrats (23%), and then others.

A plurality of women surveyed (29%) indicated that they believe both Democrats and Republicans are responsible for the recent government shutdown. While nearly a quarter (24%) say both Trump and Republicans are responsible, only 11% indicated they exclusively blame Trump.

QUESTION #5
The Trump administration has torn down the east wing of the White House to make way for a 90,000 square-foot ballroom, paid for by $300 million in private donations from U.S. businesses and individuals. (Sources: Reuters, CNN, BBC) To what extent do you support or oppose this project?

On October 18th, cities throughout the country hosted “No Kings” rallies to protest the Trump Administration. Which of the following best describes your opinion on the “No Kings” protests?

Chart showing a plurality of women (37%) support "no kings" protests but did not attend

I support the protests and what they stand for, but I DID NOT attend a No Kings rally in October.37%

I’m still trying to understand what the protests are for.19%
I feel uneasy or skeptical about the protests.6%
I do not support the protests or what they stand for.20%

Over a third (37%) of women surveyed said they support the protests and what the protests stand for, but did not attend a No Kings protest. Fifteen percent indicated that they understand the concerns, but are unsure whether protests are the best method to express them. Additionally, 19% said they are still trying to understand what the protests are for.
